Scottish Government gives consent for the construction and operation of an Electricity Generating Station (under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989).

Connections Reform Update: The National Energy System Operator (NESO) issued a revised Connections Reform timeline on 13 February 2026. This confirms offers will be issued by NESO within the following timeframes;

  • Protected transmission and large embedded offers that are protected under Clause 1 or Clause 2a additional protections: between 13 February 2026 and mid-April 2026
  • Gate 2 Phase 1 transmission and large embedded offers: between mid-May 2026 and mid-September 2026
  • Gate 2 Phase 2 transmission and large embedded offers: between early September 2026 and mid-January 2027

NESO has outlined a locational approach to sequencing offers and it has been agreed that Scottish Transmission Owners will prepare the first offers which will be issued by NESO. SSEN Transmission will continue to work with NESO to deliver offers at pace, in line with this industry plan, allowing our customers to receive certainty as soon as possible.
